The Food and Wellness Group is very pleased to announce its work with New York Times bestselling author Dr. Steven Pratt, considered by many to be the pioneer of the SuperFoods movement. Assisting Dr. Pratt in promoting his latest book, SuperFoods Rx For Pregnancy: The Right Choices For A Healthy, Smart, Super Baby, the Food and Wellness Group is helping to connect Dr. Pratt with the health and nutrition promotion programs of several of the food industry’s leading advocates for the vital role that whole, healthy foods play in living a longer and healthier life.
Dubbed “The Food Dude” by Oprah Winfrey, Steven G. Pratt, M.D., FACS, ABIHM, is a world-renowned authority on the role of nutrition and lifestyle in the prevention of disease and optimizing health. He has appeared on major national television programs including Today, The View, and Oprah. His books have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, O, Time, Newsweek, Men’s Health, Shape, Martha Stewart Living, and other publications. Dr. Pratt is a senior staff ophthalmologist at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California, and a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Pratt is a graduate of the University of Southern California (B.A.) and received his medical degree (M.D.) from Jefferson College of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Pratt’s newest book, SuperFoods Rx For Pregnancy, his fifth on the topic of SuperFoods, was featured at the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo in Houston, October 18th through 21, 2013, presented by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dr. Pratt held very popular book signing, hosted by the Hass Avocado Board, at this annual conference that gathers over 8,000 registered dietitians and numerous health and nutrition professionals from public agencies, industry and the media. Dr. Pratt also participated in the Hass Avocado Science Spa, which featured reports and preview presentations on the latest scientific research supported by the Hass Avocado Board.
The Food and Wellness Group is also pleased to report that Dr. Pratt recently participated in a national Satellite Media Tour, co-sponsored by the Wild Blueberry Association of North American and the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute. Dr. Pratt, participating by satellite in more than 20 television and radio interviews, discussed his new book and the importance of nutrition, environment and lifestyle—for both women and men—in preparing for conception, for a successful pregnancy, and for a healthy baby, including during the critical first months of a baby’s life.
The interviews also featured several freshly prepared dishes that included Wild Blueberries and wild Alaska seafoods. The recommendation for 2 to 4 servings of seafood a week for all people, including women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, is an important element in SuperFoods Rx For Pregnancy.
